Gravimetric dosing for packing lines

The problem

On a packing line, an over-dose is raw material given away with every unit sold, and an under-dose is a compliance problem. Both are invisible per batch and only become measurable at the end of the year.

Volumetric dosing makes this worse when the raw material varies: a density difference between lots translates directly into a quantity deviation, even though the machine is doing exactly what it was set to do.

What we deliver

  • Gravimetric dosing on load cells: mass is weighed, not volume, so a density variation between lots does not change the quantity dosed.

  • Two-stage dosing — high rate to approach the target, fine rate to land on it — with automatic correction for the material in flight at the moment of stopping.

  • A weighing report for every batch, with the recipe used, in the format your quality department already works in.

  • Interchangeable screws for materials with different flow behaviour dosed from the same installation, plus a hopper vibrator or agitator for powders that bridge.

  • Integration with the existing line automation.

For a customer in the chemical industry we built a line in which precision gravimetric dosing feeds the packing machine directly, as part of a closed flow from raw material intake to the packed product.
