Shaftless screw conveyors for sludge and wastewater treatment plants

The problem

At a treatment plant, the material to be conveyed is the hardest case there is: sludge is sticky, screenings contain textile fibres and foreign objects, and the environment is chemically aggressive.

An ordinary screw with a centre shaft clogs. Fibrous material wraps around the shaft until the machine jams, and the intermediate bearings that support the shaft on long runs are additional blocking points — each one a place where the conveyor stops and someone has to open it by hand.

What we deliver

  • A shaftless screw: the flight is a load-bearing helical ribbon with no centre shaft, running on a wear liner in the trough.

  • Flights sized on the real behaviour of sticky material, not on a theoretical rate for free-flowing material.

  • A build that resists the aggressive environment of a treatment plant, with the wear liner selected for the abrasiveness of the screenings.

  • Route lengths and opening positions built to the layout of your plant.
